Fundamental Fitness & Athletics For Ages 5-8 years - a strong grounding for their future


These fitness and athletics sessions are tailored to help children develop a strong grounding for their future, no matter what sport they choose. All sessions are led by fully qualified UKA athletics coaches, with a vast amount of experience and knowledge.

Sessions are based around structured games that encourage key technical points whilst still being fun and engaging for the children. They will develop their 6 key fundamental movements before progressing onto more specific training qualities including; agility, balance, co-ordination, endurance, flexibility, speed and strength. We will also cover a variation of a range of athletic events.

Typical session structure

0-10 mins Warm up.
10-25 mins Activity 1- Fundamental/ Technique.
25-30 mins Water Break
30-45 mins Activity 2- Athletic Event
45-55 mins Cool down and reflection

We are always looking to start new clubs in different areas to make sure all children have a chance to access the training. If your child would be interested in joining our club but you can’t see a suitable location, please let us know where you would like us to start up and if we can get 10 children or more for that area we will happily add an extra session!

Areas we are looking to set up sessions in (not limited to); Bracknell, Burghfield, Calcot, Caversham, Earley, Pangbourne, Reading, Shinfield, Spencers Wood, Sonning, Theale, Tilehurst, Winnersh, Wokingham, Woodley and Yateley.

Book Now For Our Palmer Park Summer Camp - Monday 29th July to Friday 2nd August


Our week long summer holiday camp will teach a variety of fundamental skills as well as a range of running, jumping and throwing events in a fun learning environment. Skills such as agility, balance, co-ordination, endurance, flexibility, speed and strength will all be developed through the training program as well as covering the majority of athletic disciplines. Children will also learn the importance of warming up ready for exercise, and cooling down afterwards. Doing these effectively will help them achieve a greater level of performance and reduce injury risks. At the end of the week there will be a 'mini olympics' competition were children will have the chance to put their new skills to the test and receive a certificate for their achievements.

All sessions are led by fully qualified, UK Athletics coaches who will be assisted by current competing athletes. Several of these athletes are competing at both national and international level, they are keen to share their experiences and answer any questions children may have. We look forward to seeing you on the track!

Date: Monday 29th July to Friday 2nd August.
Venue: Palmer Park Athletics Stadium, Wokingham Road, Reading RG6 1LF.
Age: 5-11 years old. Prices:£30 per child per day or £125 for the full week.
Option to add lunch on for £4- Ham or Cheese Sandwich, cartoon of juice, Fruit flapjack, crisps and fruit. Water will be provided all day.
Times:
9am-3pm coaching.
Drop off from 8.30am
Collection by 3.30pm.

Free Taster Session
Sessions come in blocks of 10 (once per week for 10 consecutive weeks) and cost a total of £60 (£6 per session). All new athletes will receive one free taster session to make sure they love it before committing to the rest of the course.

We ask all athletes to purchase one of our branded T-shirts when they begin with us, to help them to be easily identified and feel part of our team. Other kit is also available to purchase but isn’t essential. View our Training Kit page for details.
